French Onion Chicken

Indulge in the rich flavors of French Onion Chicken topped with crispy turkey bacon.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until caramelized.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Add the beef broth and thyme, then transfer the skillet to the oven.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. In the last 5 minutes, top the chicken with turkey bacon and Gruyère cheese, then return to the oven.
  7. Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, remove from the oven and serve.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the broth overnight.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
