Traditional Brunswick Stew

A traditional recipe for Brunswick stew that captures the essence of Southern comfort food.

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cooked pork, chopped
  • 1 cup kidney beans, drained
  • 1 cup corn, frozen or fresh
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until soft.
  2. Add the shredded chicken and pork, stirring to combine.
  3. Add diced tomatoes, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the beans and corn, and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Adjust seasoning if needed, and serve hot.
