- 1 pound turkey bacon
- 2 cups diced chicken ham
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups okra, sliced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 3 cups cooked rice
- In a large pot, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Add chicken ham and continue to cook for a few minutes.
- Stir in the chicken broth, okra, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne pepper, thyme, and bay leaves.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, crumble the turkey bacon, and add it back to the pot.
- Serve hot over cooked rice.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper.
- Serve with crusty bread for a complete meal.
