  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour and half of the sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy, then add cream of tartar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gradually add in the remaining sugar while continuing to beat.
  5. Fold in the flour mixture gently until just combined.
  6. Add vanilla extract and bourbon, mixing gently.
  7. Pour the batter into cupcake liners in a cupcake pan and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Let the cupcakes cool completely before topping with whipped cream and strawberries.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, you can omit bourbon or replace it with vanilla extract.
  • Make sure to allow the egg whites to reach room temperature for better volume.
